May/August Cross Quarter Day Site:
There is a large panel of petroglyphs above the area where one sits and places their head in a carved circle. This large panel describes the alignment on the May and August cross-quarter days. The figure of a man lying down looks like Lugh of old Celtic lore. Each year, Lugh was said to die at Lughnasa. This figure of a man lying down with closed eyes may symbolize Lugh's death. The small hill in the distance provides an excellent platform for the Sun to set. The large, shaped rock positioned out in front of the carved circle positions the viewer in a perfect position to watch the sunset under the rock ledge on the evenings of Beltane and Lughnasa.

Figure 1 Ben Westerman and Keith Jeffries relax among the rocks at the May/August site.

Figure 2 The sunset under the shoulder of the rock during the august alignment.

Figure 3 Note that the right edge of the rock has been shaped to look like a face.

Figure 4 The large panel of petroglyphs has been carved above where the alignment takes place below. The face-shaped edge on the right seems to look into the distance. Was this another way to say Look here?
